Majority in the Middle Position on Election Involvement

Majority in the Middle encourages individuals to participate in public service, as a candidate, supporter of candidates, caucuses, groups and others involved in the campaign process.

As a nonpartisan 501(c)3 nonprofit, Majority in the Middle is prohibited from participating in electoral campaigns. Board members, committee members, volunteers, supporters, and paid staff should take great care to preserve the Majority in the Middle mission, vision and values during any political campaign season by avoiding referencing -- through the use of logos, language, or other means -- any involvement by Majority in the Middle in electoral campaigns.

This policy does not prohibit volunteer members of the Board of Directors or committees from themselves running for office, participating in political campaigns or endorsing candidates, as long as it is clear that they are representing themselves, and not the organization.

Specifically, members may not utilize Majority in the Middle materials, logos, language, slogans, or affiliations in campaign marketing materials or any communications, nor may members reference affiliation with Majority in the Middle so as to imply organizational support or endorsement of any electoral campaign.

Questions about this policy should be addressed to the Executive Director or a member of the Board of Directors
