Maurice Harris serves as a Research Manager for Greater MSP, conducting research to support economic development and market research efforts for the recruitment, retention, and attraction of businesses to the region. Prior to Greater MSP, Maurice was a researcher with the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC), the research arm of the Missouri Department of Economic Development.
Maurice was elected to the City Council in Golden Valley in 2019. He was appointed to the Golden Valley Human Rights Commission in 2017, serving one term as chair. He was also a member of the Rising TIDES Task Force, a work group created to help implement the city’s equity plan. Prior to moving to Golden Valley, Harris served as a commissioner in Columbia, Missouri, where he served on the Community Development Commission and the Vision Commission.
Originally from St. Louis, he obtained his Master’s Degree from the University of Missouri–Columbia in Public Affairs, specializing in Public Policy Analysis and Regional Development, and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Knox College majoring in Political Science and History.
